Loner Shin meets filmmakers Jay and Fukami and the trio decide to make a film together. Jay, upon finding that Shin is a virgin, brings him to meet Taeko in an effort to have Shin lose his virginity. Taeko refuses, but offers to take him to a classmate of hers in exchange for Shin convincing this classmate to act in her next play. The classmate, Mitsuko, is a shut-in with a wealthy but abusive father and pushover mother. Having no sons, Mitsuko's father hopes to marry Mitsuko off to a suitable heir. Mitsuko rejects Shin and rebuffs Taeko's offer, chasing them out of her house. Flashbacks reveal that in high school, Mitsuko and Taeko had been on a planning committee for a student production of Romeo and Juliet. Mitsuko was cast as Juliet and began a romance with Eiko, who was cast as Romeo, though Eiko secretly had an affair with Taeko. One day, Eiko (whom everyone began to refer to as Romeo) is killed in a traffic accident, leading to the cancellation of the play. Bored and inspired by the play, the remaining girls decide to commit suicide by jumping from the school roof. Mitsuko is distracted by a vision of Romeo and does not jump with the others. While all the others die, Taeko survives by landing on the roof of car.
